after a fitful night of sleep, I heard birds chirping outside my window. I was not certain I wanted to awaken. My body ached. My mind was fuzzy. The room was dark.
Was it really morning already?
My mind began to drift to the happy scene outside, painting a vivid picture of pastel colors and the delicate winged creatures that seemingly sang in my ears.
Finally having resolved to arise from my slumber, I began to consciously listen for their tune. Almost as quickly as it had come, the melody ended.
Although I was disappointed, my mind and body began to awaken, sharpening for the duties of the day before me. Then I was encouraged as the Spirit seemed to whisper to my soul the encouragement of God’s Word …
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you
with singing.

The song of my feathered friends was a tune I could not recall. Yet I wondered if the lover of my soul sent them to remind me of the song of His rejoicing love over me.
As you hear the birds chirping and flitting about, may you be reminded of God’s love and that He sings over you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name
may rejoice in you.
Psalm 5:11 niv
